    Ozeki Rai Junmai Sake

    RAI is created using a new age labour-intensive production process with the yeast, koji and lactic acid being the keys to this rich brew. Timing of the additions to the starter mash influence the flavour and aroma. Ozeki exclusively developed a new way of making sake to bring out the savouriness while sustaining easy drink-ability. The unique brewing process of RAI creates a pleasant earthiness that is not too bold nor meek with subtle hints of caramel in the nose. A straightforward flavour that can be enjoyed for hours.

    Celebrate International Women’s Day

    Nekoze Kansatsuki – Hikari Yamashita

    To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, WOW Women’s Film Club invited our festival director Eiko Meredith to hand-pick a selection of animated shorts crafted by up-and-coming female animators working in Japan, and to organise an online Creative Workshop by Japanese animator and illustrator Chie Arai.

    The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Choose To Challenge‘, so the Kotatsu Festival team have brought together a number of works by up-and-coming female film-makers, all of which are family-friendly and are rated U or PG.

    Programme October 2020

    We’re back this October to celebrate our 10th Anniversary, all free, online and live on our YouTube Channel and via Zoom. We’re excited to present four screenings and three Zoom meetings, with four short film programmes featuring award winning film makers and emerging talents from various universities across Japan.

    We are also supporting women in film and production by implementing the F-Rated system. The F-Rating is applied to all films which are directed by women and/or written by women. The rating allows audiences to “vote with your seat” and proactively choose to go and see F-Rated films.

    We are very proud to present a Kotatsu Special Event, a live YouTube broadcast showcasing talented women from across the Japanese animation industry, with a short film programme presented by animator and director Fusako Yusaki, and featuring works from Miho Yata, Arisa Wakami, Mone Kurita, and female students at Tokyo University of the Arts.

    The StopMate SM-005 is a ball & socket armature kit which can be assembled to create the internal skeleton for your humanoid puppets. Designed by Tetsu, a skilled Japanese machinist, they are the main stop motion armatures used in universities such as Tokyo’s University of the Arts animation program. They are also used professionally for films, TV series, and adverts in the Japanese animation industry. The armature moves really smoothly and is very strong, making it ideal for professional animation projects. Sold worldwide by Stop Motion Store.
